About Toby Jepson
Toby found fame as the front man/singer/songwriter in British Rock band Little Angels who achieved significant success in the UK, Europe and Japan between 1989 and 1995, signed to Polydor records, they clocked up 10 UK Top 40 hits, and a number 1 album with the band’s final studio album ‘JAM’ in 1993, followed by a farewell sell out show at the Royal Albert Hall in 1994.
After the band split, Toby pursued a solo career fronting Toby And The Whole Truth releasing one album in 1995. He then spent several years in the film and TV business working as a stand in for various actors including Christopher Lambert, Damian Lewis and Michael Fassbender, in movies such as Gladiator, Sleepy Hollow and Angela’s Ashes, as well TV series Band Of Brothers.
Toby signed a publishing deal with ‘Strictly Confidential’ – part of the EDEL group – in 2002, operating at indie level as a self managed, self releasing artist which saw the release of various EP’s and albums to allow touring to become his bread and butter.
Between 2007 and 2017 Toby fronted Eddie Clarke (Motörhead) vehicle Fastway – across the globe at festival level throughout. This was closely followed by a stint as singer for Scottish rock band GUN and then once again on a global scale fronting Dio’s Disciples – a band made up of the late great Ronnie James Dio’s last line up.
It was also around this time that Toby began to establish his production credits working with Macclesfield alt rock act The Virginmarys, this in turn led on to working as a producer/arranger for many acts as diverse as Saxon, Fastway, The Answer, City Of Thieves, Treason Kings and The Brew, as well as being the principal writer/arranger/producer for UK rock act Toseland – also becoming the bands co-manager with Martin Tibbetts at Strangeworld Management.
Toby has also written and co-written songs for and with a vast array of artists including Katie Melua, Kipper Eldridge, Polly Scattergood, Dan Reed, Russ Ballard, Biff Byford, Hugh Cornwell, Rob Sharikbari, Laura White, Matt Sorum, Giuliano and Dante Gizzi, James Lomenzo, Brian Tiche, Jo Callis, Nic Wastell, Jim Vallance and James Toseland. A close relationship with fellow Little Angels cohort, Dave Kemp, has led to a writing partnership that sees the duo currently working on developing material for stage and screen.
Returning to the stage in 2017, Toby now fronts Wayward Sons, a new hard rock band, signed to Frontiers music SRL. The band have already played a variety of UK festivals including Ramblin Man Fair, Steelhouse Festival, Rock n Blues Festival as well as opening slots with UFO, Inglorious, Steel Panther and Saxon. With an appearance at Download in 2018 as well as headline tours, the band are emerging as one of the key bands at the forefront of the U.K. hard rock scene. The album ‘Ghosts Of Yet To Come’ was released in September 2017 to widespread acclaim and was voted Number Eight by Planet Rock Radio’s listeners. Wayward Sons also went on to be voted ‘BEST NEW BAND’ in the station’s ROCKS Awards 2018.
